About Us
Revell Research Systems has a very strong and distinctive culture. In many
respects, we are a typical professional service firm and exhibit many of the common characteristics
that prevail in such firms, particularly those that can be easily discerned by outsiders,
such as the way we dress and the way we communicate.
However, behind the scenes we are much more relaxed than many typical firms. Most of us work
from home, wearing what we feel comfortable in when we are out of the limelight, which promotes
an informal atmosphere between us that fosters deep trust and respect.
We certainly have a culture of getting the job done, which stems from our work-hard,
play-hard attitude that promotes strong commitment to our clients while at the same time
emphasising the need to enjoy life in equal measure.
Clients often say that we feel very different from other IT companies and technology
consultancies. This probably stems from the fact that we really are working for them
rather than to our own sales agenda, since we do not sell anything but our own expertise.
We have a very strong set of values
that we all espouse, which binds our team together. These values have helped shape our culture
since the Consultancy was established in 1985. We are here to make a difference in technology
for our clients and for society as a whole.
We also value academic and professional qualifications over vendor certification that usually
lead to some form of discount structure and accreditation aimed at selling more product to
the client. This commitment to academic achievement, lifelong learning and professional development
is reflected in our support for the Revell Research Systems Prize at the University of Plymouth,
which recognises outstanding student accomplishment.
All of our IT professionals
are members of BCS
The Chartered Institute for IT and abide by its Codes of Conduct and Practice
as well as other professional bodies that are specific to their particular specialisms. They
are also largely graduates (or have equivalent experiential learning). Every fee earner undertakes
a minimum number of hours continuing professional development (CPD)
each year.
Our senior fee earners are chartered professionals, usually either Chartered IT Professional
(CITP) or a Chartered Engineer
(CEng). All of our client work is supervised by a chartered
professional to ensure our work is of the highest standard. You would not expect any different
from any other profession.
We use our culture to guide us and our team instinctively know how to act in any
given situation. Although the practice has an extensive operations manual, everyone
knows and appreciates this only represents the bottom line as far as our performance
is concerned. We all strive to push the boundaries of excellence.
