Matthew Lowsley

The award of the 2025 Revell Research Systems Prize to Matthew Lowsley marks the recognition of an outstanding academic accomplishment and celebrates his achievement as the highest-performing computing graduate at the University of Plymouth. Awarded annually to the top final-year undergraduate student within the cognate area of Computing, the prize honours exceptional academic excellence and identifies those students whose achievements place them among the most distinguished computing graduates of their generation.

Matthew received the prize during the University of Plymouth graduation ceremonies, where he was presented with the award by Alastair Revell. The occasion provided a fitting opportunity to recognise the dedication, perseverance and intellectual ability that enabled him to achieve the highest academic standing among all computing graduates in 2025.

As the twentieth recipient of the Revell Research Systems Prize, Matthew joins a prestigious roll of honour that stretches back to the award's establishment in 2006. Over two decades, the prize has come to represent the highest level of academic achievement in Computing at the University of Plymouth, celebrating graduates who have demonstrated exceptional talent and gone on to make significant contributions to the technology profession.

Matthew's success is particularly noteworthy as the 2025 award coincided with the fortieth anniversary of Revell Research Systems, providing an additional sense of occasion to this year's presentation. His name now takes its place alongside a distinguished community of former prize recipients whose achievements reflect the enduring strength of computing education at the University of Plymouth.

The award recognises more than examination results alone. To emerge as the leading student in such a diverse and demanding discipline requires technical excellence, analytical ability, creativity and sustained commitment throughout a programme of study. Matthew's achievement reflects these qualities in abundance and demonstrates the high standards he maintained during his time at the University.

As he begins the next chapter of his professional career, Matthew carries forward a tradition of excellence that has defined the Revell Research Systems Prize for twenty years. His success stands as both a recognition of exceptional achievement and a powerful endorsement of his future potential. We offer Matthew our warmest congratulations on becoming the 2025 recipient of the Revell Research Systems Prize and wish him every success in the years ahead.
