Alex Trzcinski-Draper

The award of the 2026 Revell Research Systems Prize to Alex Trzcinski-Draper recognises an exceptional academic performance and celebrates his achievement as the highest-performing final-year undergraduate student within the cognate area of Computing at the University of Plymouth. By receiving this prestigious award, Alex joins a distinguished group of graduates whose academic excellence has been recognised through the prize since its establishment in 2006.

Alex graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science, demonstrating outstanding ability throughout his studies. His academic achievements culminated in a dissertation that received an exceptional mark of 89.9%, exploring how different presentation formats, including AI-enhanced designs, influence the way users read, understand and interact with Terms of Service documents. The research combined eye-tracking technology and natural language processing techniques, producing findings that Alex hopes to publish in the future.

The Revell Research Systems Prize was one of several accolades presented to Alex at graduation. In addition to being recognised as the top final-year computing student, he received the Head of School Computing Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement, the Best Computing Project at Showcase award, and the Head of School Medal for Academic Excellence. Collectively, these honours reflect both the depth and breadth of his accomplishments during his time at the University.

Alex's dissertation exemplified the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of modern computing research. By combining elements of artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, user experience design and behavioural analysis, he addressed an important real-world challenge: helping users better understand complex digital agreements and terms of service. His work demonstrated both technical sophistication and a focus on practical societal impact.

As the 2026 recipient of the Revell Research Systems Prize, Alex Trzcinski-Draper has distinguished himself as one of the most accomplished computing graduates of his cohort. His impressive academic record, award-winning research and commitment to advancing knowledge within the discipline suggest a bright future ahead. We extend our warmest congratulations to Alex on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing the contributions he will undoubtedly make to the computing profession in the years to come.
