About Michael Bruty

Michael Bruty was awarded the 2023 Revell Research Systems Prize as the top final year BSc (Hons) undergraduate student within the cognate area of Computing.

Michael studied Computer Science at the University of Plymouth between 2019 and 2023. During his studies, he took on a number of roles at the university, including Peer Assisted Learning Leader from 2020 to 2021 and Senior Peer Assisted Learning Leader from 2022 to 2023. He also completed a short Software Development Internship at the University of Plymouth in 2022.

As part of his degree, Michael undertook a year-long Developer Placement with GOSS Interactive between June 2021 and June 2022, gaining industry experience alongside his academic studies.

Alongside receiving the Revell Research Systems Prize, he was also awarded the Institution of Analysts and Programmers (IAP) Prize for Best Software Development Project. He remains the only University of Plymouth student to have received both awards in the same year. This distinction is especially notable as Alastair Revell is also Director General of the IAP.

Following graduation in 2023, he joined Calyx as an Associate Software Engineer. He remained with the company until September 2024, building his experience in professional software development roles.

In September 2024, Michael joined uMotif as a Frontend Developer, where he currently works.
